B2 Audio Riot 2.5 Mini Subwoofer | Now Shipping | First Look & Design OverviewUpdated 2 months ago

First Impressions, Real Feedback, and Why We’re Excited to Ship These Out

By B2 Audio USA

They’re here.

The B2 Audio Riot 2.5 has officially landed, and we’re excited to say they’re now shipping out. This is one of those releases we’ve been quietly excited about for a while, and seeing them in hand makes it real.

Since these just arrived, we’re still in the early stages of hands-on testing on our end. That said, we’ve already started seeing real-world feedback from trusted builders in the RC and tiny-audio space, and the early impressions are exactly what we hoped for.

Watch the unboxing:

Built Bigger Than Its Size Suggests

The Riot 2.5 immediately stands out once you have it in your hands.

With a 2.5-inch soft part diameter (2 9/16" OD, 2 3/4" with the mounting ring), this woofer scales visually and mechanically like a much larger subwoofer. In fact, in proper scale terms, it lands right around the feel of a ferrite-motor 15-inch sub at 1/6 scale.

The design is intentionally aggressive:

  • Double-stack ferrite motor

  • Tall, high-excursion surround

  • Stiff spider assembly

  • Eight bottom cooling vents

  • Rounded, chamfered vent edges to reduce chuffing

Every element is there for a reason. Cooling, control, and durability all matter more when you’re working at this size, and the Riot 2.5 doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It’s built to move air, not just look good on a shelf.

Details That Matter in Real Builds

One of the standout features we’re especially happy with is the terminal design.

Instead of the usual spade terminals or fragile direct leads commonly found on mini woofers, the Riot 2.5 uses a ring-terminal, screw-down connection. This makes wiring cleaner, more secure, and far more practical for multi-woofer builds, where wire management can quickly become a mess.

It’s a small detail that makes a big difference once you’re actually building.

The included custom motor boot is another detail worth calling out. Beyond protecting the motor, it adds an extra level of scale realism that RC and tiny-audio builders care about.

Early Feedback From the Field

One of the first people to get hands on the Riot 2.5 was Jerry Howard of RC Audio Garage, who has extensive experience testing and metering scaled woofers across multiple sizes and brands.

Out of the box, his first observation was stiffness. Compared to several other mini woofers in his collection, the Riot 2.5 was the stiffest new driver he’s tested, immediately pointing toward strong SPL potential once broken in.

He also highlighted:

  • The effectiveness of the cooling vents

  • The benefit of the chamfered edges at this scale

  • The practicality of the terminal design for multi-sub layouts

While long-term sound testing is still to come, the early impressions point to a woofer that’s built with both performance and real-world usability in mind.

What’s Next

We’re looking forward to seeing how the Riot 2.5 performs across different enclosure styles, including SPL-focused and demo-oriented setups. With the combination of a stiff suspension and tall surround, we expect this driver to surprise people once it’s fully broken in and tuned correctly.

For now, the important part is this:

The Riot 2.5 is in stock, 3D Box's Ready TO GO, and shipping now. Get yours Here!

If you’ve been planning a new RC, scaler, or compact audio build, this is the time to get your hands on them and start designing.
